Since 1998 a group of primary and lower secondary schools of Turin and the Turin
area, in close collaboration with the Inspectors
Office of the Regional School Authority has been dealing with school
self-evaluation, using achievement tests and questionnaires prepared with the
advice of experts and administered according to common procedures.
The results have been recorded,
processed and discussed within the network and in each school according to
confidentiality criteria. The objective is not to classify schools by merit, but
to find out strengths and weaknesses as starting points for improving school
quality.
Each phase of the work is accompanied
by training activities for all participants to ensure that surveys are
conducted in the same way and that information is used in a correct and
effective way.
